Getting started

Create a Book, invite your people and record your first shared cost.

Create your first Book

Install LoopSplit from the App Store for iPhone or iPad or Google Play for Android. People using either platform can join the same Book.

A Book holds expenses, income, repayments and Loops for one household, trip or group. Each Book has its own members, currency and balances.

  1. Sign in to LoopSplit. If you registered with email, complete email verification first.
  2. On the home screen, open Add Book and choose New Book.
  3. Enter a name and choose the currency your group will use. You can add a cover photo and invite people now, or do that later.
  4. Tap Create.

What happens: the Book appears on your home screen. You can open it to add expenses and manage its members.

Choose the currency carefully: it cannot be changed after the Book is created. A Book uses one currency; it does not automatically convert expenses between currencies.

Invite people

  1. Open your Book and tap Invite People (the person icon).
  2. Share the invite link, show the QR code, or copy the 8-character invite code. You can also choose people you have shared Books with or invite by email.
  3. Ask a new person to open the invitation, sign in and accept it.

What happens: once they join, the Book appears in their account and they can see its shared entries and balances. Sending an invitation to a new person does not mean they have accepted it yet.

Join a Book

Open the invite link on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. If you need to install LoopSplit first, install it and sign in, then reopen the link. Alternatively, on the home screen open Add Book → Join with Invite Code, enter the code and confirm the Book.

If your camera shows only a web address, open that link in your browser and tap Open LoopSplit on Android. You can also enter the invitation code in the app.

If a code no longer works, ask a member for a fresh invitation. Check the Book’s name before accepting.

Add your first expense

  1. Open the Book and tap Add.
  2. Choose Expense, enter a description and amount, and check Paid By and the date.
  3. Under Split between, select who shares the cost and how to split it.
  4. Check each person’s share, then tap Save.

What happens: the expense appears in Activity and updates the Book’s balances after it syncs. Saving an expense records who paid; it does not charge anyone.
