Search & calculations
Find past entries and calculate an amount without leaving LoopSplit.
Search within a Book
- Open the Book and tap Search (the magnifying glass).
- Enter part of an entry’s title, or enter its exact total amount. For example, water can find a water bill, and 120.00 can find entries with that total.
- Tap a result to open its details.
What happens: the list narrows to matching entries in this Book. Searching does not change entries, balances or repayments. It does not search other Books or text inside receipt photos.
Narrow the results with filters
Use the filter choices to narrow results by payer, participants, category, entry type, amount range or dates. You can also filter for entries from Loops or with receipt attachments, and choose whether deleted entries are shown.
- Open a filter and choose the people, dates or other conditions you need.
- Return to the results using the button that shows the number of entries.
- Use Clear Filters if filters hide what you are looking for, or Reset to clear both your query and filters.
Example: look for a bill paid by Alex, in a particular month, with a receipt attached. All selected filters apply together.
Read the search totals
Spent is expenses minus income among the matching results; Your share is your part of those costs. Repayments appear separately as payments. Deleted entries do not count in these totals.
These figures describe the search results, rather than the whole Book’s balance or proof that anyone has paid. Open Balances to see who owes whom across the Book.
Calculate in the amount field
- Add or edit an entry and tap the amount field.
- Use the calculation keys to add, subtract, multiply or divide. Brackets let you group a calculation.
- Check the result shown while you type. For example, 42 + 18 gives 60.00.
- Tap = to use the result, review the payer and split, then save the entry when ready.
What happens: the calculated result becomes the entry amount. Calculating does not save an expense or split it between people; review the separate split controls before saving.
If something looks wrong
- No matching entry? Check that you opened the right Book, try part of the title, and clear any active filters. Amount search matches the entry’s total, rather than your individual share.
- Incomplete results? Let the Book finish loading. If the app says it could not load every entry, reconnect and try again before relying on the totals.
- No calculation result? Finish the expression and check for an invalid operation, such as division by zero. You can always enter the amount directly.
